Reading Notes: PDE Ramayana Part A (Sita and Parashurama)
I'm a huge hopeless romantic, so the story of Rama seeing Sita for the first time in the garden was one of my favorite stories. I like the description of hearing hear bangles jingle and then Rama saying, "I know of a surety that there comes hither a lady whom I shall love beyond all things else in the world." I think I may want to create a story that has some romance involved. This particular story kind of reminds me of the movie Romeo and Juliet with Leonardo DiCaprio.

When Rama and his brother Lakshmana enter the King Janaka's home, Rama breaks the bow and the King promises for his daughter Sita to marry Rama. Just after this, a huge bull like hermit named Parashurama comes in, angry that Rama broke the sacred bow. He tells Rama that he must draw his bow of Vishnu to really show that he is hero. Rama picks up the bow and it immediately straightens! Parashurama is amazed and at the very end of the story he clasps his hands together and says, "Glory to the mighty Rama!" I really liked this story because it brings some scary drama into the whole epic, while also kind of having a light humor from Rama's brother Lakshmana. I may write about this story too because of how intense it is, but also how things can change so fast if you hold your ground and are who you say you are.
